Working in the Crescent Valley neighbourhood has provided me with opportunities to share my passion for food security. I have been able to access a variety of resources for local residents, help develop the Growing Place Community Garden and Greenhouse and further the goals of Food Secure SJ. I can offer workshops, links to resources for staff and clients, funding opportunities, professional development.
Journalist
Breton Beats
I am interested in growing food, teaching others how to gow food and using art in the process. I see this as a sacred and contemplative activity. To this end I have written and coordinated four Community Food Action grants and one Wellness NB Grant. Most recently in 2021 I joined forces with the Peter McKee Community Garden and Lifeschool house, a folkschool model that origanted in Nova Scotia and held a series of food oriented barter based wokshops at the garden.
I also am intersted in writing about the people in the food movement, and making videos about projects, places and people invoved in grassroots food production and self-sufficiency. My husband, Archie Nadon--also a CFM-- and I founded Moncton Beats in 2016 as a journalistic vehicle to publicise the stories of the food movement in southeast New Brusnwick.
We have just moved to Petit de Grat Nova Scotia and plan to continue the work here and are looking forward to some pan-Maritime projects.
Chair
Nackawic and Area Wellness Committee
I started on this road to Wellness and Food Security quite by accident and really never expected that my involvement and my community's involvement would grow to the extent that it has. Our community group has worked on 180 projects over the last eight years and at least half have had food as one of the ingredients and the more I am involved with the food initiatives the more need that I see.
INTERVENANTE COMMUNAUTAIRE
United way
I'm responsible for the food operations for the senior and homeless programs for the United Way. I do mass feedings for both programs.

Registered Dietitian/Food Security Coordinator
Western Valley Wellness Network/Carleton-Victoria Community Inclusion Network
Hi All! I'm Karrie - a Registered Dietitian practicing in New Brunswick. You can find me with an interest in all things food. From my work within the long term care and community sector, I've developed skills and experience at each step of my journey. I've helped to start bulk-buying clubs in Woodstock NB, held roles in Meals on Wheels Programs throughout the province and have a special place in my heart in helping drive poverty reduction, support seniors across the continuum of care and continue to advocate for food security for all. I've taken an untraditional route to dietetics, and carry a huge passion and belief in bringing communities together to "work smarter, not harder" and love coming up with out-of-the-box simple solutions for this line of work.
I'm always up for a connection call or to set up a 'brain date' over a cup of coffee.

I am an Acadian artist, art instructor, gardener, environmental technician, butcher, woodsman and radio personality on CJSE Radio Beauséjour where I answer gardening questions. My wife and I run a small homestead farm in Saint-Paul, NB where we raise chickens and geese as well as manage a permaculture garden and private woodlot for building materials and firewood.
